Mizuho Town, located about 40 kilometers west of central Tokyo and about 1 hour and 20 minutes by train from Shinjuku, is a town surrounded by abundant nature and greenery.
The Sayama Hills, which stretch out to the east, offer beautiful scenery throughout the four seasons, and are close to tourist destinations such as Okutama and are rich in nature, making them ideal for hiking and other outdoor activities.
From the center of town to the north, the tea fields of Tokyo Sayama Tea, which boasts the highest tea production in Tokyo, stretch out, making the town known as the tea capital of Tokyo. In addition, with Yokota Air Base located to the south, the town is also a lively place of international exchange.

▶History and Culture

Mizuho Town is known as the production center of the traditional crafts Tama Daruma and Murayama Oshima Tsumugi.
Tama Daruma dolls began to be made by farmers as a side job during the off-season during the Meiji period, and currently there are eight manufacturers in the Santama region, five of which are located in Mizuho Town.
Murayama-Oshima Tsumugi, which began to be produced in earnest during the Taisho era, is characterized by beautiful patterns that are woven from skillfully dyed vertical and horizontal ikat threads. Today, the techniques are preserved and disseminated through experience classes at the local history museum.
In recent years, we have focused on utilizing digital technology and developing new products and technologies, and are working to create a new culture by utilizing AI and IoT and promoting open innovation.

Mizuho Town has a wide variety of local festivals and events, allowing children to gain a variety of experiences from a young age.
Various events are held each season, with local people coming together to participate, such as the Cherry Blossom Festival in the spring, the Tonogaya, Ishihata, and Hakonegasaki Three District Summer Festivals and Summer Festivals in the summer, and the General Cultural Festival and Industrial Festival in the fall.

▶Sightseeing and Activities

Mizuho Town is an area rich in nature and culture. The Sayama Hills, which spread out on the east side of the town, are known as the setting for "My Neighbor Totoro" and are home to over 1000 species of plants and animals. It is a popular area for hikers from both inside and outside the town to enjoy the scenery that changes with the seasons.
In addition, a 700m walking course has been developed in the woods surrounding the spacious grassy park of Mizuho Eco Park. There is also a popular dog run, so the whole family can enjoy themselves. During the Doll's Festival season, hanging dolls handmade by volunteers are displayed at the Koshinkan Local History Museum.
Additionally, you can see Mount Fuji and the skyscrapers of Shinjuku from the observation tower at Rokudoyama Park, and at Sayama Hanatarari no Sato you can enjoy the best Katakuri colony in Tokyo.
