Inagi City, located in the central-southern part of Tokyo, borders Kawasaki City in Kanagawa Prefecture from the southeast to the west, Fuchu City and Chofu City across the Tama River to the north, and Tama City to the west.
To the south are the gentle Tama Hills that run parallel to the Tama River, the Misawa River flows through the center, and the Yato River flows through the Daimaru district; the area is rich in nature, but efforts have been made to improve safety and convenience through urban infrastructure development, giving the city an image of being "just the right amount of rural, just the right amount of urban."

▶History and Culture
------------------
It is said that people began living in Inagi City about 20,000 years ago, and stone tools used by people at that time have been discovered in the Sakahama and Hirao areas. There are also ruins of three castles built after the Kamakura period: Ozawa Castle, Naganuma Castle, and Omaru Castle. During the Edo period, records remain of pear cultivation and ferries that coexisted with the Tama River.
It is said that the origin of Inagi pears dates back to the Genroku period, when Masuoka Heiemon and Kawashima Sajiemon, the magistrates of Naganuma village, went on official business to Yamashiro Province (southeastern Kyoto Prefecture) and brought back a pear seedling called Awayetsu on their return.
In addition, the Omaru Waterway, which took water from the Tama River at Omaru and was used for agricultural purposes since the Edo period, can still be seen today. Inagi City has many fascinating cultural properties.
