▶Climate
-----------

Surrounded by steep mountains, Hinode Village allows you to enjoy the great outdoors to a degree that you would never expect to find yourself in Tokyo.
The village is located in the headwaters of the Tama River, and most of it is designated as part of Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park.
There are 26 settlements scattered throughout the village, and there are over 50 waterfalls, including Hossawa Falls, which was selected as one of the XNUMX best waterfalls in Japan. Each area has its own unique characteristics, so be sure to find your favorite settlement.

▶History and Culture
------------------

Most of Hinode Village is covered with forests and is designated as part of the Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park. Many famous and giant trees can be found here, and historical culture, including folk performing arts and historic sites, remain.

Forestry and lumber were once popular industries, but now quarrying and construction are the main industries. In addition, potatoes are grown on the mountain slopes, cyclamen is grown taking advantage of the mountain climate, and wasabi and mushrooms are grown using the clean mountain water.
Food processing and handicraft production are also thriving, and forestry and wood processing in particular have supported the development of the region.
It was.
During the Edo period, the wood processing industry developed and the area supported people's lives as a producer of firewood and charcoal.

Currently, efforts are underway to develop forestry into a tertiary industry, and tourism has also become a core industry.

▶Local communities
---------------------------

Because Hinode Village has a small population, each settlement has its own neighborhood association and fire brigade, and residents help each other to maintain local functions and culture.

The public elementary and junior high school, Hinohara Gakuen Hinohara Village Hinohara Elementary and Junior High School, provides detailed education in small classes and has created an environment where the entire community cares for children.
[Village Hinohara Project]
The building was built by Hinode Village and is a public-private project run by the general incorporated association Anadromous, and it functions as a place where villagers, immigrants, teleworkers, and nomad workers can work together and create new value.

▶Sightseeing and Activities

Boasting a rich natural environment, Hinode Village has a thriving tourism and service industry, with guesthouses, inns, campsites, fishing spots, hot springs, souvenir shops, and restaurants.

The area is home to many beautiful natural landscapes and unique shops, including Hossawa Falls, which has been selected as one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan, Kanoto Rock, a natural monument designated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Kazuma no Yu hot springs where you can take a day trip to bathe, Hibaru Metropolitan Forest where you can attend nature classes and try woodworking, and the Kobayashi Residence, a historic old mountain house.
We also recommend mountain hiking, which can be enjoyed by people of all levels. There are plenty of hiking trails, such as the Okutama Three Mountains of "Mt. Mito", "Mt. Gozen", and "Mt. Odake", as well as "Sengenone" and "Sasaone".

▶Immigration Information
--------------------------------

In Hinode Village, many villagers live in harmony with nature through the changing seasons and practice self-sufficient living.
Everything you need for daily life can be obtained in Akiruno City, which is just a 15-20 minute drive away, and the city also has a well-developed medical system.

The public elementary and junior high schools in the village have small class sizes and provide an education that nurtures the individuality of each student.
The entire community has an environment where children are valued, and there is comprehensive support for child-rearing.

We provide continuous support from birth to high school age, including birth and entrance ceremony bonuses, subsidies for purchasing childcare supplies, and assistance with childcare and medical expenses.

The village also promotes the "Wood Start Project," which presents wooden toys to children born in the village. Hinode Village has an excellent child-rearing environment where children can grow up in contact with nature and the warmth of people.
